About the Asian American Student Academic Program
The Asian American Student Academic Program (AASAP) was established in 2023 after nearly three decades of community and student advocacy. We develop and implement academic support initiatives to enhance transition from high school, assist students in acclimating to college learning strategies, and promote access, academic achievement, social integration, persistence, and graduation of all UIC students. Recognizing the important role that culture and history play in our lives, we focus our mission through a culturally relevant lens centered around Asian diasporic history and cultures. We provide academic advising, financial management and career exploration programming, mentorship, and support 1-credit Global Asian Studies seminars focusing on career development, financial literacy, and life skills. Our services are provided at no additional cost to all current and prospective UIC students.
