Introduction
AASAP hosts events throughout the year to support students develop vital academic skills while building community. Some event topics include:
- Understanding advising as an academic tool and maximizing advising sessions, including culturally engaged academic advising at AASAP
- Sharing effective study skills and online tools
- Hosting information sessions with representatives from UIC undergraduate and graduate programs
- Writing feedback
- Presentation skills
- Letters of recommendation

Note Smarter: A Note Taking Workshop
In partnership with Global Asian Studies, this interactive workshop led by an AASAP GRA helped students to identify their note-taking styles and prioritize academic goals.
Advising 101
AASAP invited advisors across campus to share strategies to maximize advising resources as well as directly connect students to culturally-relevant academic advising.
Diwali Reflections and Reset
In celebration of Diwali, students gathered to complete a guided reflection of academic goals and paint diyas in a community space.
Unlocking the Secrets of Undergrad Research
AASAP and Undergraduate Research and External Fellowships partnered to host a workshop on finding research opportunities, identifying academic and career goals, and finding faculty mentors.
